Might just be time……

…..to shut ‘er down. For awhile, anyway.

I almost always write about what’s on my mind and, usually, my mind is full of stuff. I am OTG, after all. I am also political. A smidge philosophical, too, now and then. I am married to an Amazon who continues to amaze, amuse and assist. Whales swim by my front door. And we are all pretty much into the shallow end of the pool on Climate Change so that, too, portends more fodder for the writer’s mill……….but, well, the old Hamster wheel in my head has inexplicably slowed. I am not thinkin’ as much these days. Not about anything. Not really. Just not feeling it, ya know?

The joke that is ‘our government’ is not worth even listening too, let alone wasting time thinking about. The clown show that is ‘Merican politics actually makes Canada seem sane. And the madness is just growing. But it is all so crazy everywhere I can’t work up a logical opinion or even suggest a path forward. I see chaos, not patterns. And there is no big picture view when there is only chaos.

And the chaos is expanding too. As they say, “you can’t make this stuff up!” , so I can’t even project or guess what might happen next. It is all way too insane to contemplate anymore. Put bluntly; it is crazy-making. My brain says, “Quit!”

So, I am. I am done here. At least for the foreseeable future. All seven of you are very special to me. I made some great friends on this blog. Please write if you want. But, for now, I am stepping back to watch the trainwreck unfold as it will.

  1. Well that is a sad thing, but understandable. I too am kinda burned out by social media and the goings on of Our current World. It’s just too mad to comprehend. Often I had made replies here but then it seemed to get bounced so I stopped for a while. Some made it I think, as unworthy as they may have been. Now just dealing with some apparent crackhead stealing trucks, trailers and boat from our car park. Our somewhat secure carport. 🙄 A bit of a downer, and damn it’s cold this morn, below 0°C !!!, tho its now a beauty of a day. In a rush to town yesterday, to deliver someone whose truck was stolen, I saw the mountain tops are snow covered and even snow on the side of the road. That’s just cruel!!!
I do enjoy your ramblings Dave, and have read every one for years now, so you deserve a break, but for God’s sake stop watching US media. That can NOT be good for you, or anyone else!
Perhaps, if the mood strikes you, we can hear once again about your OTG Life, and how Wonderful Sal is.😉🙂🤣 That is what got Us here.
Just take good care. We wish you two a lovely Fall and Winter!
    and beyond.
    Cheers David. David2.

  3. Take a Break, David! The world is just too crazy right now to make any sense of anything. Enjoy where you live, enjoy your life and stop every once in a while, breathe and realize how lucky you are.

  4. Sorry to hear that Dave. I will miss all the local stories especially. Politics these days is difficult to comprehend on so many levels. Don’t say Good Bye just So Long for a while till something interesting happens in your world or things clear a bit on the political front.

  5. Hey Dave and Sally – write anytime to share – crows, whales and dogs, what your November to March plans, and how the warmed area you both finished recently. Maybe some family groups will come and visit before it gets colder. Time to read and make supper too.

I am keeping the house at 18 C right now and just add a layer or two of shirts to keep warm (ok, another 2 blankets are added to my bed helps too).

This week the basement door will be ‘covered again’ to keep the cold out – this year I bought a very thick ‘moving’ blanket and am hanging it from a heavy duty dowling which covers about 5 feet of that wall. 3 basement windows will also be covered with two sided sticky tape to hold the clear window covers in place – I really don’t want the job but I am it so… by next week I will have them covered.

I keep working on stocking additions to my booths in Fort Langley. My favourite person is 88 and she has taught me so much about finding good finds. It’s great to have a friend who keeps me staying in line.

Stuff happens and G (almost the minute I got home that Saturday) I gave him the ‘virus’ which is going on – I went out without my mask on that Saturday to add more stock to my booths … and forgot that Fort Langely was having an all day ‘come and have fun’ and that is where I got the virus. Saturday that town was jam packed. I left after working for an hour. My mistake. Takes a few weeks to get back to normal. It takes getting back to normal slowly.

I miss grandson who has gone to work in Williams Lake, got a big dog, boards at his other grandparents and now has a car to drive (and he and Grandpa R are putting in a new radiator and hoses to make the heater will work) in GS’s car has heat). WL is very cold and getting colder. I gifted him winter tires and rims and they are on his car now and Grandma in WL is relieved she doesn’t have to drive him to and from from his job. I was very relieved when GS got his licence in August (and so are they). Yes I could be keep writing. So – write another post and I will write again.

That is about it for now. Keep well, keep warm.

  6. Hi JD, I think I understand what is happening in your head. Chaos and mayhem is happening everywhere around us in an increasing pace. Just trying to keep up with the (bad) news seems to be a fulltime job these days. And the news never seems to have a silver lining any more.
So in order to keep a bit of sanity, I understand where this break is coming from
I WILL miss your stories and blogs. Looking on yoor blog to see if there was anew posting has become my morning routine. Reading over morning coffee (often with a smile on my face), about you,Sal and the dogs, world economics, politics,… has been one of my greater joys these past years
Take care and we will stay in touch!

  7. Thank you for your insights over the years.
Your “wisdom” always sheds new light (at least to me)
On politics and other topics. My hope is that after a rest
You will get antsy to express your views again.

  8. Take a break buddy.
It’s tough to come up with “topics” to discuss on a regular basis.
I’ll still be checking the OTG blog on a regular basis so feel free to rant to the wind in a “Network: I’m as mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!” kinda way.
I’m stupid busy with the job for now but I expect to retire in the next few years.
If you’re in town send me an email to go out for a coffee or dinner.

    Faithfully.
    You sometimes nemesis….
